Araghchi: The Nature of the Iran-Russia Treaty is Economic
WANA (Jan 18) – Iran’s Minister of Foreign Affairs stated that the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty between Iran and Russia encompasses all aspects of bilateral relations, emphasizing that the treaty’s primary nature is economic. He noted that it addresses various economic sectors, including trade, tourism, transportation, energy, and other related areas.
Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, elaborated on the details of the treaty during the President’s visit to Russia. He expressed optimism that the treaty’s signing would pave the way for smoother cooperation in economic, political, cultural, and other domains within a better-defined framework.

Highlighting the predominantly economic nature of the treaty, Araghchi added that it covers various fields such as trade, tourism, and transportation.
He further explained that the agreement also extends to cultural, scientific, judicial, legal, communication, and other collaborative areas, encompassing nearly all aspects of relations between the two countries.
The Iranian Foreign Minister underscored that the treaty fosters a comprehensive outlook on bilateral relations, stating, “We are highly optimistic that this foundational agreement will enhance cooperation in economic, political, and cultural domains, allowing for smoother and more structured progress. Relations have been strong thus far, and this framework will further strengthen them.”
